Some of the many reasons that I like Neals Yard Remedies and that they are award winning health and beauty products is that their products are natural, organic and ethical but what does this actually mean to us:
Natural means something different to everyone, to NYR it means a range of different things; like, that their products are vegan and many therefore suitable for vegetarians and that they only use sustainably sourced, organic honey, beeswax and Propolis. NYR supports bee friendly organisations and they have been certified cruelty free , meaning No Animal Testing. Natural as most of the ingredients are found in nature.
To NYR Organic means that their products have no harmful pesticides, GM (Genetically Modified) ingredient or Synthetic colours, dyes or fragrances. Organic means that they have all their natural antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. The Soil Association has certified NYR since 1991. In order to be organic, an ingredient must have been derived without the use of synthetic pesticides, petroleum fertilisers or sewage sludge fertilisers, and it must not be a genetically modified organism.
Ethical for NYR is a company that avoids using any ingredients that can cause harm to the body and planet. They build lasting relationships with growers who use sustainable and wild-harvesting practices and they get their ethical standards independently verified. They use the highest possible percentage of organic ingredients. They are a truly British brand and uphold Fair trade standards.
