I’ve had a busy weekend extending my knowledge in Massage spending my time with Ben Barnett learning about the Amethyst Trust Specialist Cancer Massage Training. The course was fascinating and so informative for me as a therapist and as an individual. It helped me to understand the many myths surrounding cancer and holistic treatment, where it comes from and it helped me overcome my apprehension about working with clients diagnosed with Cancer.

Ben spoke about some great real life scenarios and case studies and made the subject come to life in the classroom and this made it an enjoyable learning experience. I’m glad to say that he has made me confident in being qualified and able to treat clients who have cancer. Ben is also a great therapist with regards to the Hydrotherm treatments, whereby all massages are done facing up while lying on a Hydrotherm couch, which is heated water pads giving you the sensation of floating. I had a session with him which was unique for me as it included guided visualisation, this was a first for me to have a 3 dimensional massage facing up and I have to say it was very different and very good. I look forward to the opportunity of spending more time with Ben (benbarnett.co.uk/) learning different techniques relating to the Hydrotherm Massage System by johnholmantherapysolutions.co.uk/

I'm hoping to start offering Specialist Cancer Massage Therapy or Therapeutic Touch Massage for Cancer sufferers myself very soon.
