Guston CE Primary Summer Fete

Phew! What an exhausting day, but great fun. Despite arriving later than planned, as I needed to buy chairs to sit on after spraining my ankle on Thursday and a groundsheet so as not to damage my massage bed and chair, we then had the complication of erecting our brand spanking new Gazebo, which only arrived late on Thursday with no time to try it out due to the rain on Friday,

Stress...? Its not in my vocabulary, I'm in the business of causing relaxation, besides which I couldn't build it anyway, I had to rely on my husband to do that, along with all the fetching and carrying of all of my kit from my car.

We needn't have worried about damage to the bed & chair though as Sammy (The Fete Organiser) assigned us a lovely spot between the DJ and main show area and her own raffle stall, on Astroturf, so no groundsheet needed. She even rallied the other stall holders into helping my husband erect his prized shelter.

The fete started with a bang with singing from the school choir and a show by CJ's Dancers of which we had a grandstand view and loaned the CJ Dancers the use our gazebo to keep them out of the sun between numbers. There were raffles, BBQ, bouncy castle and all manner of stalls to amuse everyone.

I had a quiet start giving me chance to rest my poorly ankle, but with just an hour to go, I managed to hook my first client. Once others saw him inside the gazebo on a massage chair and not outside on my massage bed that I was using for display purposes, then I got more interest, with my final client just after the fete and all important raffle had finished, meaning that not only were we the last stall holders to arrive, but also the last to leave too....

Still the day despite my poorly ankle was thoroughly enjoyable and I hope they'll have me back again next year!
