Deep Tissue Massage uses firm, sometimes isolated pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It's used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders. While some of the strokes may feel the same as those used in Swedish Massage therapy, deep tissue massage isn't the same as having a regular massage with deep pressure. Using only the fingertips this massage focuses on relaxing the muscles in the face. The techniques used help with drainage of fluids from the face which can help with blocked sinuses in certain instances. The muscles of the face and neck are often neglected and this massage helps you to achieve a feeling of balance within the body and includes and fingertip massage of the scalp. The scalp massage helps to release tension caused by tensing the facial muscles or having your hair tied back. This massage used in combination with the massage helps you to achieve overall relaxation and wellbeing.
